A truly Read–Write Web for machines as the next-generation Web?
In this paper, we provide a view on the future Web as a Semantic read–write Web. Given a number of prerequisites for enabling a fully read–write Web for machines, we predict the following. First, datasets and data in general will become self-organizing, driven by local updates of machines. Second, human-created machine-readable schemas will become obsolete. Third, Web services will no longer be visible on the Web. Fourth, reasoning on the Web stays monotonic and will be optimized for versioned data. Additionally, two application areas are discussed where the read–write Semantic Web will have a deep impact: the Web of Things and advanced personalisation.
